An antiviral drug is put to the test.
Remdesivir is an antiviral drug. Antivirals don't cure people of viral infections but it can slow down the rate of viral replication thereby speeding up healing. There was no good data to support its efficacy initially but a recent study showed that it may help release people from the hospital five days earlier than average. This lends some support that it may be saving lives as well. So, it may help slow the progression of the disease, but there is no cure.
